Album Notes
This isn't an album, just several concepts in wait of one. I've had several prevailing ideas for songs and themes for this album, sometimes as an extension of the previous ones, sometimes as marking a new cycle, but most broadly I want to use synthesisers and audio compositing instead of my traditional analog approach to songwriting.
I also have toyed around with the idea of this album being 'less than minimalist', in that a lot of pseudo-silence is interspersed with fragments of music that, while I may have conceived of or even composed, is not actually present, or only mixed quietly, or inconsistently, in a fragmented way, creating more of a 'suggestive' listening experience than a traditional album. The aesthetic goal would be to sonically represent a lifelong issue I've had, one in which the dream or daydream of something is immeasurably more appealing than the reality of an idea, and/or the labour required to create it. I imagine this is highly relatable as that moment one hovers on the edge of getting out of bed, or simply getting up from lying down, and choosing to let ones imagination complete the project one has in mind.
Either way, I've no timeline for Parliament of Joy - finishing it is pending recording at least satisfactory lo-fi home studio versions of all my other albums.
